Our History
A house with a long tradition
Our experience is based on a long tradition. On February 13th, 1794
our house was mentioned for the first time in the land register and
from that day on it was known as a very popular inn.
The inn was a house where farmers and merchants stopped to get
themselves and their horses supplied and accommodated before they
went to the marketplaces in the town. Situated at the outskirt and
at the only exit road of Mühlhausen, the inn became very popular
within a short time and it had to be enlarged little by little.
When the merchants returned successfully from the markets, they
ate, drank, debated and sang in the inn. Even at that time they
loved to eat the good and solid Thuringian food which was offered
there. After another century passed off, the building of the train
station at the other side of Mühlhausen started. During this time
the vernacular created the dictum of the “Ammersche Bahnhof” and we
kept this as our name until today. The name became quite popular
among the inhabitants of Mühlhausen and the guests of the inn; here
you like to stop for a bite to eat and buy a so-called ticket:
ordering a glass of beer and a glass of schnapps.
Since 1957 the third generation of family Nolte is managing the
inn. Due to our extensive know-how and diligence, we keep the
tradition alive and our typical Thuringian food became famous in
the meantime far beyond the borders of the town.
The hotel and restaurant „Ammerscher Bahnhof“ is owned by Imme
Kleimenhagen (née Nolte) and Matthias Kleimenhagen since 2002. And
even now the next generation is ready to face the gastronomic
challenges.
